Egypt is considering adding yet another LNG import vessel, as the nation that was exporting gas 💧 just a year ago is now rushing to lock in supplies to cover domestic demand ⚡.
A new vessel would add to the 1️⃣ Energos Power ship that arrived in Alexandria port earlier this week and the 2️⃣ Hoegh Galleon operating in Ain Sokhna. Two others - 3️⃣ Energos Eskimo arriving this summer and another 4️⃣ from Turkish company Botas - have also been tied up.

Norway-headquartered asset integrity management company Axess Group has won an enterprise of competence (EoC) contract 🤝 with compatriot energy services company Aibel for work on a project operated by the state-owned energy giant Equinor.
As disclosed by Axess, its portion of work for the Equinor-operated Snøhvit Future project 🏗 is set to be executed by its team in Singapore.

Shadow fleet LNG carriers manoeuvre as sea ice coverage delays Arctic sailing season 🌎
Russia’s Directorate of the Northern Sea Route lists over 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ vessels as having been granted permission 🔵 to take the passage during 2025, with specifications about ice-breaker assistance.
These include the bulk of the Arc7 LNG carrier fleet serving Novatek’s Yamal LNG project 🏗.
They include the 👉 79,833-cbm Arctic Mulan (ex-Mulan, built 2024), the 👉 174,000-cbm Iris (ex-North Sky, built 2024) and the 👉 138,028-cbm Arctic Metagaz (ex-Metagas Everest, built 2003) — all of which have been sanctioned by Western authorities 🚨, along with other LNG carriers on charter to Novatek.

HD Hyundai Marine Solution has completed the retrofit 🎯 of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier owned by Cool Company (CoolCo).
The re-liquefaction retrofit was performed on the LNG carrier 👉 Kool Glacier at Yiu Lian Dockyard (Shekou) in China.
Lloyd’s Register (LR) provided comprehensive technical oversight and flexible classification support in the process 🖋. This included the expedited notation for the re-liquefaction unit installation, ensuring the ship’s delivery remained on schedule.

UK-based shipowner Purus Marine has firmed up an order 🤝 for a new 180,000 cu m LNG carrier at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries with delivery set for the fourth quarter of 2027 🎊.
Purus had been linked by newbuilding brokers to a roughly 💰262m deal announced by HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) in April.
The latest order brings Purus Marine’s gas carrier newbuilding tally to 🔟 vessels booked for construction across HD Hyundai-affiliated yards.

FSRU Energos Winter leased by New Fortress Energy sailed from Brazil to Turkey for repairs 🏗, as its US-listed LNG charterer considers shifting out some of its regasification tonnage.
Besiktas Shipyard, Europe’s biggest ship repair facility, announced that it had received the 138,000-cbm regas vessel Energos Winter (built 2004) 🚢.

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has received a new regasification module order from Höegh Evi 🤝 for a conversion project that will see a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier repurposed into a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) destined for deployment in Egypt 🏗.
The regasification module will be installed onboard the 👉 Hoegh Gandria LNG carrier, bought in February 2023 to upgrade the vessel to a high-capacity FSRU for long-term deployment.
This order, booked in Q1 2025, is said to further strengthen Wärtsilä’s position in LNG regasification systems 💧. The Finnish player’s equipment is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2026 🎊.

Avenir LNG has secured a multi-year extension for the 👉 Avenir Accolade with Excelerate Energy.
The deal comes as part of Excelerate’s purchase of New Fortress Energy’s LNG import and power businesses in Jamaica 📌, where the vessel is expected to remain employed providing a vital service providing cleaner, more cost effective natural gas solutions to the people of Jamaica 💧.

Bermuda-headquartered liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping company Flex LNG has completed 🤝 the lease financing for one of its LNG carriers.
While announcing the 💰175 million Japanese operating lease with call option (JOLCO) for the LNG carrier 👉 Flex Courageous, Flex stated that the refinancing generated net proceeds of approximately 💰42 million, extending debt maturity to 2035 and reducing the cost of debt 📉.

Torrent Power’s move to secure fuel for its increasing power and city gas distribution businesses 💡 has led to a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with BP 🤝 for the supply of up to 0.41 million metric tonne per annum (mtpa) of LNG 💧, beginning in 2027 and continuing through 2036.

Shell Marine has successfully carried out its first LNG bunkering operation 🥇 for a cruise vessel at the Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) — a regional first.
The milestone operation supported 👉 ASUKA III, the largest Japanese-flagged cruise ship, operated by NYK Cruise.
It also marked ASUKA III’s first LNG bunkering at Singapore Cruise Centre 🥇, underscoring the city-state’s growing role as a key hub for clean marine fuel and advancing the region’s transition toward low-emission shipping.

Spain’s Grupo Ibaizabal has emerged behind three 3️⃣ newly contracted LNG bunkering vessels in China and South Korea.
The company has lined up a second 18,600 cu m vessel at Chinese state-owned Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in a deal worth around 💰90m.
The unit is estimated for delivery in 2027 and into a charter with French energy major TotalEnergies 🤝, which last year selected Ibaizabal for the first Hudong-Zhonghua LNG bunker newbuild expected for delivery by the end of 2026 🎊.
The Spanish shipowner ordered a pair 2️⃣ of 18,000 cu m vessels booked for construction at South Korea’s HD Hyundai Mipo.
The vessels are priced at about 💰97.5m, with delivery set for 2027. These newbuilds are backed by charters with Shell 🤝.

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has reportedly placed an order for eight 8️⃣ liquefied natural gas (LNG)- powered 16,000 TEU boxships in South Korea 🏗.
The eco-friendly containership fleet will be built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard, with the Singaporean carrier paying around 💰220 million per unit.
With the latest move, ONE has joined the ongoing LNG-fueled 💧 boxship ordering spree. Its counterparts, including Hapag-Lloyd, MSC, Evergreen, and CMA CGM, recently also splashed out millions of US dollars on LNG dual-fuel newbuild fleets.

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has launched the second LNG dual-fuel cruise ship built for TUI Cruises 🎊, a joint venture between TUI and Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Mein Schiff Flow is a sister ship to Mein Schiff Relax, delivered in February this year, and the second of two InTUItion class cruise ships designed to operate on LNG 💧 and marine gas oil (MGO) 🛢.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has taken delivery of its latest dual-fuel methanol carrier built by South Korea’s HD Hyundai Mipo (HMD) 🎊.
The Kohzan Maru VII is set to serve Japan’s Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company (MGC) under a long-term charter 🤝 .
The newest ship will now continue the established service of transporting environmentally sustainable methanol 🔋 derived from renewable sources, while also using methanol as its marine fuel 🔥.
Its ability to run on methanol is projected to accomplish ‘significant’ reductions in sulfur oxide (SOx), nitrogen oxide (NOx), and particulate matter emissions 📉.
