🎓 LNGKnowledge
The cargo containment of an LNG ship Moss type Spherical doesn't have a full Secondary barrier 🚧 and only a thick, self-supporting aluminium sphere that is carried by a cylindrical skirt at the equator. The containment system is based on the principle of Leak Before Fail .
This type of containment system is subjected to a thorough stress analysis and must include 1️⃣ fatigue life and 2️⃣ crack propagation analysis .
Because of these design factors , this type requires only a partial Secondary barrier 🚧, comprising a drip tray and a splash barrier.

The global LNG shipping industry will require over 650 new LNG carriers by 2040 🚀, according to analysis by Wood Mackenzie.
The market has experienced 18 months of historically low short-term charter rates 💵. Newbuild vessel deliveries averaging over 20 per quarter 📈 during the same period drove the weakness.
The market outlook shifts from 2027 onwards. New large scale LNG supply coming onstream this decade, supported by a record year of LNG supply final investment decisions in 2025 💵, will drive demand for shipping capacity 💧.

⚠️ This is the scary sound of LNG — if you hear it onboard, just sound the alarm.
In this video, I share the distinct sound LNG makes when it’s leaking or flashing, something every seafarer and LNG professional should instantly recognise.
Knowing this sound can make the difference between early response and a serious incident. Safety onboard LNG ships starts with awareness and training.
