The U.S. exported a record 10.1 mmt of the liquid fuel in October, up from a revised figure of 9.1 mmt in September 📈.
Already the world’s largest LNG exporter 🥇, the U.S. has been ramping up sales with four record-setting months in 2025. The surge was led by the start-up of Venture Global’s Plaquemines export plant and the ramp-up of Cheniere’s Corpus Christi Stage 3 project.

Japan, the world’s No.2 LNG importer, plans to buy liquefied natural gas for emergency reserves 🚨 on a monthly basis from January, instead of buying only during peak demand periods, to guard against supply shocks 💧.
Japan will ensure at least one LNG cargo – about 70,000 metric tons 💧 – is secured each month to mitigate supply risks.
For the year, that means Japan will buy at least 1️⃣2️⃣ cargoes, or 840,000 tons of LNG, for its emergency reserve, up from about 210,000 tons in each of the past two years 📈.
