LNG production developer Venture Global has been given approval by the US Department of Energy 🎯 to increase exports from its Plaquemines LNG plant in Louisiana by 13% as disruption to global supplies intensifies amid the Middle East war 🚨.

US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright signed export authorisation on an additional exports of up to 0.45 billion cubic feet per day of supply 📈 from Plaquemines to non-free trade agreement (FTA) countries boosting the plant’s permitted volumes to 3.85 Bcf/d to both FTA and non-FTA countries.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) will no longer be available in Pakistan after April 14 🚨 due to supply disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East

The Middle East conflict threatens LNG shipments from Qatar, the world’s second-largest LNG exporter after the United States, which supplies the bulk of Pakistan’s imported LNG 💧 used to power electricity plants during peak demand.

The Ras Laffan Industrial City, home to the LNG plant that accounted for about a fifth of global supply before production was halted earlier this month, was hit by an Iranian missile after four others were intercepted 🚨.

A subsequent attack on Ras Laffan early on Thursday led to a fire.

QatarEnergy said in a statement that several of its LNG facilities were hit, causing sizable fires and extensive further damage 🚨.

Iranian attacks on Qatar have wiped out 17 percent of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity 📉, causing an estimated 💰20bn in lost annual revenue and threatening supplies to Europe and Asia

Two of Qatar’s 14 LNG trains, the equipment used to liquefy natural gas, and one of its two gas-to-liquids facilities were damaged 🚨 in Iranian strikes this week.

The repairs will sideline 12.8 million tonnes of LNG 💧 production per year for three to five years

Gas Malaysia has received a letter to proceed (LTP) with the LNG regasification terminal project in Kedah from the Energy Commission of Malaysia (EC) 🎯, which enables the project to progress to the next phase of implementation, including detailed engineering, financing progression, site preparation, and other related preparatory works 🏗.

Located in Yan, Kedah, to the west of Pulau Bunting, RGT Yan is envisaged as an offshore floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) 🚢 with a planned regasification capacity of up to 6 metric tons per annum (mtpa) 💭.

India Lists 22 Ships On Evacuation List For Safe Passage Through Strait Of Hormuz 🌏 Amid Rising Gulf Tensions

Most of these vessels are carrying fuel, making their safe passage important for India’s energy supply 🔥.

Out of these, 10 ships operate under the Indian flag. The rest are registered in countries like 👉 the Marshall Islands, Liberia, Greece, Malta, and Portugal.

The cargo includes three LNG carriers 💧, ten LPG vessels, and seven crude oil tankers. Two Indian container ships have also been included in the plan to ensure they pass safely.

ADNOC Gas made temporary adjustments to its production of liquefied natural gas 📉 and export-traded ‌liquids in response to ongoing shipping disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.

ADNOC Gas is actively collaborating with customers and partners 🤝 on a transaction-by-transaction basis to fulfill commitments wherever possible.

The company's Das Island facility, with LNG capacity of 6 million ‌metric tons a year 💧, sits inside the Gulf, so tankers must transit the Strait of Hormuz to reach it.

How much committed Qatar LNG is now trapped behind the Strait of Hormuz? 🚨

A large and still-growing book of LNG sale and purchase agreements is now being held up by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Many of those contracts are due to start this decade and many are tied directly to Qatar-origin supply 📅.

Against that backdrop, the question for the market is not simply whether Qatar can produce LNG in the long term, but which contractual volumes 💧 are now constrained by geography if cargoes cannot pass through Hormuz.

The commitment base reaches about 50.05M tonnes per annum (mtpa) 💧.That figure is built from the following deals:

China (18.5 mtpa), India (7.5 mtpa), Bangladesh (4.05 mtpa), France (3.5 mtpa), The Netherlands (3.5 mtpa), Pakistan (3 mtpa), Germany (2 mtpa), Taiwan (4 mtpa), South Korea (2 mtpa), Italy (1 mtpa), plus a global SPA with Shell (1 mtpa).

A second Russian-built ice-breaking LNG carrier has started sea trials 🚢, but has confused ship watchers, as it was not the vessel expected to deliver next.

Kpler data shows the 172,600-cbm newbuilding Konstantin Posyet, which is named after a widely travelled admiral who spent time on the Arctic Northern Sea Route 🌎, as moving around in Ussuri Bay off the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex in far eastern Russia.
