After the tanks have been warmed up, the LNG Vapor is displaced with Inert Gas 💭.

Inert gas from Inert Gas Generator IGG is introduced to the tanks from the ⬇ bottom of the loading lines. The displaced LNG vapor is vented from the top ⬆ of the tank via the forward mast riser, or ashore if the ship is in port.

The inerting operation will continue until the hydrocarbon 🔥 content in the tank is reduced to 1.5 % by volume .

The operation takes about 20 hours 🕔.

🏭 LNGTerminals

Shipments from Russia’s Yamal LNG plant fell by 16 cargoes in the first eight months of 2025 📉 compared with last year.

By the end of August, 176 cargoes had been exported from the Novatek-led project 💧, down from 192 in the same period of 2024..

The fall may correspond to a reduction of about 1.2m tonnes of LNG 💧.

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has assumed the technical management 🤝 FSRU Turquoise P.

The 2019-built FSRU is owned by Pardus Energy and stationed at the Etki Liman LNG terminal in the Turkish Aegean Sea, near Izmir ⚓. The unit is 294 meters long and boasts a cargo capacity of 170,000 cubic meters💧.

BSM is set to join an exclusive club, since it says that only very few of around 5️⃣0️⃣ FSRUs worldwide are managed by third-party ship managers.

Belgian gas shipowner Exmar has signed contracts 🤝 with gas supplier Regasificadora Del Pacifico (RDP) to provide an LNG floating storage unit 🚢 that will be deployed off the west coast of Colombia.

The FSU will be sited in the inner bay of Buenaventura 📍, where it will accept LNG from visiting vessels.

The European Union (EU) has proposed a new raft of sanctions against Russia 🚨 to cripple the country’s ability to finance its military operations in Ukraine 🛑

The European Commission’s proposal for the 19th package of sanctions not only deepens the shadow fleet sweep with 180 new vessel listings 🚢, but also tightens the energy noose on the Kremlin with a liquefied natural gas (LNG) ban 💧, marking a turning point in the EU’s attempt to wean itself off Russian fossil fuels.

Wärtsilä digital solution offers dynamic maintenance planning to streamline maintenance costs 💵, the connectivity is deemed to enable 24/7 remote support for quicker issue resolution and improved asset availability.

This tool is said to have the ability to predict potential problems before they occur 💡, helping operators lower unscheduled maintenance costs.

🏗 LNGShipbuilding

Woodside celebrated the naming of our two newest LNG carriers, 1️⃣ Woodside Jirrubakura and 2️⃣ Woodside Barrumbara, at Hanwha Ocean’s shipyard in Geoje, South Korea 🎊.

They are the newest LNG carriers in the world, featuring 👉 ME-GI two-stroke engines, air lubrication systems, and shaft generators.

These vessels are a feat of engineering, built to support the start-up of our 💰12.5 billion Scarborough Energy Project.

Oman’s Asyad Shipping is set to ramp up its LNG carrier fleet renewal and growth efforts 📈 from next year as it kicks off a process to acquire four 4️⃣ newbuildings. The company controls a fleet of eight 8️⃣ LNG carriers.

This comprises six existing ships — five steam turbine vessels, plus a dual-fuel diesel-electric ship — and two newbuildings, which will be delivered next year 🎊.

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) is planning to increase its fleet of liquefied natural gas tankers by around 50% 📈 by early 2029 to meet rising global demand for the super-chilled fuel 💧.

Nippon Yusen is planning to boost its fleet to more than 130 vessels by early 2029 🚀, up from 89, which includes tankers that are operated and owned by the Tokyo-based group.

🤝 LNGContracts

A consortium run by XRG, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which includes Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ) and global investment firm Carlyle, has withdrawn its $18.7 billion non-binding indicative offer for Australia’s energy player Santos 🏢.

After obtaining an extension of the exclusivity period to conclude due diligence and obtain all necessary approvals for a binding transaction, concerning its proposal to acquire Santos’ all ordinary shares via a scheme of arrangement, the ADNOC-led consortium has rescinded its indicative offer 🚫; thus, it will not proceed with a binding offer for the Australian player.

New Fortress Energy (NFE) has ironed out the terms of a long-term gas supply contract 🤝 with the government of Puerto Rico, which will enable it to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) 💧 to the Caribbean nation.

This deal, which is expected to provide a reliable and affordable supply of natural gas to Puerto Rico’s power system for seven years 📅, will support the island’s efforts to replace higher-emission liquid fuels with cleaner natural gas 🔥.

This contract is currently under review for approval by the Financial Oversight and Management Board of Puerto Rico (FOMB) 🖋.

💧 LNGBunkering

South Korea’s trading company POSCO International has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) 🤝 with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) to promote the domestic LNG bunkering business 💧.

The MoU is expected to enable Korea Southern Power to utilize POSCO International’s domestic LNG bunkering services starting in 2027 📅.

Korea Southern Power, which introduced LNG-powered vessels Nambu 1 and Nambu 2 in 2023 🚢, has been sourcing fuel from overseas, including Singapore, due to the low competitiveness of domestic LNG bunkering.

🔥 LNGAsFuel

Hanwha Ocean has secured an order from Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. for seven 7️⃣ 15,880 TEU large container vessels.

These vessels will be equipped with LNG dual-fuel propulsion engines 🔥 as standard and designed with Ammonia DF Ready specifications to meet tightening international environmental regulations 🔋.

They will feature the world’s first Type-B LNG fuel tank 🥇 with a design pressure of 1.0 bar, enabling safer and longer storage of boil-off gas 💭.

The Panama Canal has launched a new NetZero Slot 🌎, a category within its transit reservation system designed to encourage the decarbonisation of shipping. In an initial phase, vessels must be registered as dual-fuel to enter 🔥

Benefits for clients awarded the NetZero Slot include freedom to select their preferred transit date within the assigned week 📅; guaranteed transit within 24 hours; inclusion of the just-in-time service; and flexibility to exchange, or substitute vessels of equivalent specifications.

Denmark-based container shipping giant A.P. Moller – Maersk has taken delivery of the third methanol dual-fuel boxship 👉 Bangkok Maersk in a series of six being built at the shipbuilding major HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI)

Owing to the fact that it can run on methanol 🔥, the newbuild is expected to achieve an emission reduction of potentially up to 60% 📉, making Bangkok Maersk an ‘important’ part of the company’s strategy to reach net-zero operations by 2040.

Wison New Energies NGUYA FLNG is being towed PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH) tugs to her final destination Congo for Eni 🚢.

POSH has deployed three ocean-going towing tugs 3️⃣ to tow the FLNG from China to Congo and an additional tug shall be deployed in Congo for station-keeping during the hook-up of the FLNG to the SSY mooring system.
