🎓 LNGKnowledge

During shipbuilding , the ships are assembled piece by piece 🏢 and block by block exactly as the kids play with their Lego game.

Shipbuildingis the construction of ships and other floating vessels 🛳. It normally takes place in a specialized facility known as a shipyard.

These parts are built separately inside the shipyard and then transported to the drydock for assembly as shown in the below picture 👇 taken during attending the commissioning and outfitting 📝 of a new LNG vessel at Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan South Korea 🇰🇷.

🏭 LNGTerminals

Indian importer Petronet LNG is changing its plan 🎯 for a floating storage and regasification unit-based terminal 🚢 on the east coast to a land-based version 🏭, due to a shortage of FSRUs.

The project cost of the planned facility at Gopalpur in Odisha state will rise to 💰737m, up $469.7m from the previous estimate for the 4-mtpa capacity FSRU-based terminal 💧, which was originally agreed in late 2023.

New liquefaction project LNG Canada provides an “advantaged route” 🎯 to Asia that takes less than half the time than from terminals in the US Gulf 📉.

Cargo shipping time to Asia from the Kitimat terminal in British Columbia is 👉 10 days, compared with 👉 24 days for projects in the US Gulf that export their cargoes westbound via the Panama Canal.

Italy’s Terminale GNL Adriatico will begin maintenance and expansion work 🏗 at its northern Adriatic Sea liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal next month, targeting a boost in regasification output 🚀.

Boasting a capacity of 9.6 billion cubic meters per year 💭, the terminal had the largest LNG storage capacity in Italy in 2024 🥇. Thanks to the capacity extension that will be carried out during next month’s downtime, this will increase to 10.4 billion cubic meters per year 📈.

🚢 LNGShips

Several LNG carriers are coming under scrutiny 🚨 after loading or preparing to take on cargo at Russia’s sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 plant 🏭.

Speculation is swirling as to where operator Novatek will find buyers 🤝 prepared to take these volumes.

Two vessels have already loaded at the 19.8-mtpa 💧production facility’s Utrenniy Terminal on the Gydan Peninsula.

The LNG carrier 1️⃣ Pearl, formerly the 2️⃣ Pskov, has had another name re-tweak and is now the 3️⃣ Perle.

Hanwha Ocean is expecting continued demand 🚀 for LNG carriers and very large ethane carriers on the back of a market recovery 📈.

It sees a recovery in the LNG newbuilding market 📈 driven by the growth in US export projects 💧, the phase-out of steam turbine vessels 📉 from the global fleet and lower shipyard pricing 💰.

The South Korean shipbuilder, which is part of the Hanwha Group, believes an increase in LNG charter rates 💵 during the second half of this year will positively affect future ordering 🤝.

Owners and operators are considering when to make their moves 🎯 on LNG newbuildings in complicated market conditions 📊.

“Very strong tailwinds” are supporting the LNG industry 🌪. 2025 has been “absolutely decisive” for new LNG projects, with final investment decisions 💵 taken on 38 mtpa of new liquefaction in the first half, largely in the US, and more to come. GTT Chief executive Philippe Berterottiere
