🎓 LNGKnowledge

The cargo containment of an LNG  ship Membrane type has two 2️⃣ barriers, Primary Barrier and Secondary Barrier 🚧 .

The Secondary Barrier is to act as a temporary containment for any envisaged leakage 🚨 of liquid cargo from the Primary Barrier. It is designed to contain any leakage for a period of at least 1️⃣5️⃣ days.

This illustration shows the components of the GTT Mark III Cargo containment.

Do you remember these three ships that made headlines last year ❓

North MoonNorth Light, and North Ocean are a series of new-build Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tankers that gained international attention in 2025 🎯.

In may 2025, the vessels were included in the EU's 17th package of sanctions 🚨. The EU alleged they were supporting Russia's energy sector by transporting LNG from the Yamal LNG facility and performing ship-to-ship transfers near Murmansk 💧.

In July 2025, the EU de-listed all three tankers as part of its 18th sanctions package after MOL provided "firm and verifiable commitments" 🤝 that the ships would no longer transport Russian energy

The vessels are still at anchor in Batam, Indonesia waiting for orders ? No Charterer wants to hire them ? Are they insured ?
