🎓 LNGKnowledge

Before LNG ship arrival to the discharge port 🏭, the crew proceeds with preparations and checks for a safe operation. These checks are split for three 3️⃣ days before arrival.

Two days prior arrival

  • ESD system

To be tested and proved fully operational.

  • Cargo valves

Speed of remote operation checked and confirmed to be within surge avoidance parameters. Should be 25 - 30 sec (Critical with regard to the loading arms and damage avoidance in the event of an ESD)

  • Ballast valves

Remote and manual operation to be tested.

  • Manifolds

Check for moisture ingress

Filters, gaskets and flanges

Check for mechanical damage

  • Gas detection

Systems to be checked.

Next edition will cover 1️⃣ day prior arrival checks.

Türkiye is set to reject Ukraine's proposal to ship liquefied natural gas through the Bosphorus Strait , citing the severe safety risks posed by liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers navigating the narrow, densely populated waterway running through Istanbul

A senior Turkish official said that LNG tankers could pose a serious accident risk in the Bosphorus, a narrow strait that narrows to just 700 meters at its tightest points 🚨 and requires turns of 70 to 80 degrees or more in some sections.

Ukraine's proposal would involve constructing a floating storage and regasification unit in the Black Sea ⚓, requiring LNG tankers to pass through the Bosphorus.
