Let’s jump in.
🎓 LNGKnowledge
How the aluminum spherical tank for Moss type is attached to the ship's steel hull ❓
The LNG ship Moss type tanks are each supported by a metal skirt from the equatorial ring ⭕, which transmits the weight of the tank and the cargo to the lower hull. The skirt is stiffened in the upper part by horizontal rings ⭕ and the lower part by vertical corrugated stiffeners.
Each tank is covered by a spherical steel tank cover 🔴, the main purpose being for tank and insulation weather protection. The cover also permits control of the hold space atmosphere 💭. The lower edge of each cover is welded to the weather deck, forming a watertight seal 🚧.
A flexible rubber seal is used at the point where the tank dome protrudes out from the cover.

Italy’s Terminale GNL Adriatico, the operator of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in the Northern Adriatic Sea 🌍, has disclosed the timeline for the LNG terminal’s return to full operation in the aftermath of scheduled maintenance activities 📈.
The Adriatic LNG regasification terminal, which has gradually resumed the send-out of gas into the national grid as of August 31, is anticipated to be back in full operation by mid-September 🚀.
The shutdown period, which started on August 1, was used for maintenance activities on the loading arms and seawater vaporizers 🏗, in line with the multi-year maintenance plan aimed at ensuring the terminal’s high reliability rate.

Woodfibre Management has reached a new construction milestone 🎊 for its operated $5.1 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project, under development in British Columbia, Canada 📍.
Following the arrival of the first seven LNG modules at the Woodfibre LNG site in Squamish, construction activities are ongoing 🏗, with plans in motion to add a second workplace accommodation unit adjacent to the existing floatel, bringing around 900 skilled trades jobs 📈.
The latest project update indicates that the Woodfibre LNG facility is halfway done, with four new specialized LNG modules at its project site near Squamish. These modules, which were transported overseas by a heavy lift vessel, entail two pipe rack sections, a boil-off gas compressor module, and a flare knock-out drums module 🏭.

A Russian liquefied natural gas carrier without ice protection, The 138,028-cbm 👉 Arctic Metagaz, has reversed course and remains stopped near the edge of the sea ice on the Northern Sea Route 🌏. The vessel’s struggles highlight the challenges for non ice-class vessels in Arctic shipping, even during the summer months.
The Western-sanctioned, 174,095-cbm 👉 La Perouse (built 2020) loaded at Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 plant on 27 August, is heading westwards after an apparent three-day wait for a passage through ice in the Northern Sea Route 🌏.

Eleven LNG carriers have been sold for demolition to date in 2025 🏗, in what is proving to be a record year for scrapping in the sector, but market players think the numbers should be much higher 📊.
Shipowners with ageing LNG carriers are proving remarkably reluctant to scrap them 🏗, but scheduled dry-dockings and competition from newbuildings could be the deciding factors 🔴.
In an exceptionally weak first-quarter market this year, spot charter rates for steam turbine and some diesel-electric LNG carriers 🚢 dipped well below operating expenses. Those for steamships even hit zero 🚨.

Floating storage and regasification units are about to celebrate 20 years of operations 🎊, but while the sector has clearly grown in size and acceptance, it has also gone through periods of sharp oversupply and tightness 📊.
Approximately 15% of global LNG is imported via FSRUs 🚢, with 16 of the 50-or-so LNG importers globally relying solely on the units.

Russian Voskhod LNG tanker loaded at the Arctic LNG 2 facility in Gydan in northern Siberia has arrived at Tieshan in China's southwestern province of Guangxi 🏭.
The cargo is the second 2️⃣ from the sanctioned project to dock in China after sanctioned tanker Arctic Mulan arrived at the Beihai LNG terminal in late August.
As per her AIS signal, the status is “Moored” which means she is alongside discharging her 150,000 m3 LNG cargo 💧
