Let’s get started.

🎓 LNGKnowledge

For the LNG ship Membrane type , the Interbarrier/Insulation spaces for the cargo containment should be inerted with a suitable dry inert gas 💭 provided by a shipboard Nitrogen generation system, or by shipboard storage (Old ships) generally liquid N2 and sufficient for normal consumption for at least 30 days 📅.

Whereas for Moss type , the Hold spaces may be filled with dry air 💭 provided that the ship maintains a stored charge of an Inert Gas (eg N2) or is fitted with an inert gas generation system 🏭.

India began rationing natural gas on Tuesday while countries around Asia looked to the spot market to replace supplies 💧, activated emergency plans and prepared to step up production, as the conflict in the Middle East curtailed shipping and halted Qatari output .

LNG buyers in Asia account for more than 80% of shipments from Qatar , the world’s No. 2 producer after the U.S.

Qatar appears to have loaded its first liquefied natural gas cargo after the widening conflict in the Middle East forced it to halt fuel production and declare an unprecedented force majeure to buyers 🚨.

The Lebrethah tanker departed from the LNG export complex and its draft level increased suggesting a cargo on board 💧

The vessel is signaling Bangladesh as its next destination, with an estimated arrival on March 14. Yet the trip still depends on navigation in the crucial Strait of Hormuz, which is effectively closed for commercial ships given continued hostilities in the region. The tanker may serve as a storage until the route is open 💧.

India's fuel stocks are rising despite Middle East turmoil 📈 and there are no immediate plans to raise petrol or diesel prices 💵.

India could consider buying liquefied natural gas from Russia if such supplies are offered 💧, given that the United States has already granted a temporary 30-day waiver allowing refiners to buy certain Russian crude cargoes already stranded at sea.

An LNG carrier identified as the Arctic Metagaz, part of Russia’s emerging shadow fleet transporting sanctioned liquefied natural gas 💧, was reportedly on fire early Tuesday in the central Mediterranean off the coasts of Malta and Libya 📍.

Russia’s Transportation Ministry confirmed Wednesday that a Ukrainian naval drone attacked a Russian-flagged liquefied natural gas carrier in the Mediterranean Sea after earlier reports said the ship had erupted in a blaze near Malta.

CoolCo has fixed out an LNG carrier at an extra-hot, six-figure charter rate 💵 as the market skyrockets because of the Middle East Gulf conflict.

The 174,000-cbm Kool Tiger (built 2024) has been fixed by an as-yet unnamed charterer at a sky-high level of around 💰300,000 per day.

QatarEnergy has offered out at least 🔟 of its LNG carriers as relets following its decision to halt production as the US and Israeli-Iran war in the Middle East continues and ramps up 🚀.

Brokers and owners list two vessels — the 174,000 Mesaieed (built 2025) and the 216,000-cbm Q-Flex vessel Al Thumama (built 2008) — as the first to appear on the market 📊.

The Chinese government is in discussions with Iran about guaranteeing safe passage 🌎 for Qatar’s fleet of LNG carriers through the Strait of Hormuz.

Beijing which has friendly relations with Tehran, is unhappy 🔴 about restrictions on vessel traffic in the region.

Diplomats are pressing for tankers and gas carriers to be allowed through to keep exports flowing to China, which buys about 45% of its oil 🛢 from the Middle East.

A cargo of liquefied natural gas from Nigeria has been diverted to Asia after a surge in regional prices 📉 created an arbitrage opportunity for traders.

The LNG tanker BW Brussels, which loaded a shipment at the Nigeria LNG Bonny Island Terminal on February 27 📍, initially signalled a westward journey toward Europe before altering its route 📉and heading south toward Asia via the Cape of Good Hope.

The diversion reflects the widening price gap between Asian and European gas markets 💵 following disruptions to supplies from the Middle East.

Asia’s benchmark LNG price surged sharply last week as the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran 🚀 and a production suspension in Qatar tightened global supply.
